Choosing a safe weight loss plan is an absolute must when you set a goal to lose weight.
However, this can be really difficult with all the mixed messages that the media and food industries spread so that they can get you to spend more money on their products.
Low fat or high fat? Low carb or high carb? Food combining? Diet pills? Long, slow cardio or high intensity interval training? Eating every few hours or intermittent fasting? Strength training or cardio? Eat after 7pm or don’t eat after 7pm. Snack in between meals or avoid snacks all together?
It’s exhausting, isn’t it?
That’s why I want to dissect the components of an effective and safe weight loss plan so I can try to weed through some of the confusion and make your path to losing weight a little more clear.
Safe Weight Loss Plan Components…
1. You must have a solid diet plan.
A solid diet plan for weight loss is the number 1, most important factor determining your weight loss success.
If you choose to overlook nutrition and continue to eat foods that sabotage your diet (whether you know it or not) you will NEVER reach your goal weight even if you are doing the most amazing workouts.
The bottom line is you must know what foods will cause you to gain weight and which foods will help you lose it. And the sad part is that this will be different for every person.
What works for one person may not work for another. So it is imperative that you educate yourself and experiment with what diet plans are best for you.

2. You must do workout routines that cause significant afterburn.
The second step to a safe weight loss plan is choosing workout routines that allow you to burn fat not only while you are doing them, but long after you have completed them as well.
These types of workouts should include metabolic resistance training.
Metabolic resistance training is a style of exercise that uses multiple muscle groups and is done with either high weights or high repetitions. It’s essentially cardio with weights.
Additionally, each metabolic resistance circuit would consist of several exercises performed back to back with no rest until the entire circuit is completed. At that point, a short rest is allowed and then you would start the circuit again.
For example, a metabolic resistance circuit could look like this:
- Squat jumps x10
- Push ups x12
- Lunges x8
- Pull ups x8
- 1 minute rest then repeat
If this looks too hard don’t worry. Any number of exercises can comprise a metabolic resistance training circuit and they are able to be tailored to beginners.
Structuring your workout routines like this will put such a tremendous challenge on your body, both muscular and cardiovascular, that it will respond with a crazy afterburn, or time post workout where you will still be metabolically active and burning calories.
Some studies have found afterburns to last as long as 36-48 hours after a workout when you do this type of workout.
That’s amazing! And it’s a hell of a lot better then walking on the treadmill for 45 minutes and barely burning calories while your on it. No afterburn there.

3. Choose natural supplements for weight loss to enhance results.
Notice I said “enhance” weight loss results, not rely on them solely to meet your goals.
I would never recommend to someone as part of a safe weight loss plan to consume a bunch of diet pills. You’d never see results that way despite the supplement companies trying to get you to think that you will.
Natural supplements for weight loss can’t do all the weight loss work themselves, they can only support you and give you the extra oomph you need to keep you moving in the right direction.
